CONSTITUTION of the Texas A&M University at Galveston Game Club


Article 1: Name
The name of the organization shall be “ Texas A&M University at Galveston Game Club.” In routine use, the name shall be abbreviated to “ TAMUG Game Club.”

Article 2: Purpose
To provide gamers of all types with the opportunity to network, interact, learn and have fun.

Article 3: Membership
Section 1: Eligibility
Anyone who has an interest in playing or learning about any of the games played by the TAMUG Game Club.
Section 2: Selection
To become an official member of the TAMUG Game Club, an individual must be added to the official club roster.
Section 3: Revoking membership
Members of the TAMUG Game Club may have their membership revoked if they are found to be in violation of the rules set forth by the TAMUG Game Club Constitution, the Aggie Honor Code, or the club by-laws. The revocation of the individual's membership shall be subject to a vote. If all club officers feel that any member is no longer interested in being part of the club, the member's status shall be voted on at the next official meeting.

Article 4: Officers
Section 1: Officer Responsibilities
The TAMUG Game Club shall be administered by two officers, viz. the President and the Vice President. The President shall be responsible for organizing official meetings, club elections, organizing fund-raisers and maintaining club finances. The Vice President shall be responsible for organizing official meetings, club elections, maintaining minutes, and maintaining the club roster.
Section 2: Term of office
All officer terms end December 31. Normal-election officer terms begin January 1.
Section 3: Elections
Club officers shall be elected. Club members shall be given three days to cast their votes for officers. Normal elections shall be held during the month of November. Special elections shall be held as directed by the club officers or the club advisor.
Paragraph 1: Eligibility
Officers must be currently enrolled students and have been club members for at least one month.
Paragraph 2: Election procedures
Votes shall be secret-ballot and administered by the current club officers. Votes shall be collected over a three-day period and shall be kept by the club advisor. On the day after elections end, the votes shall be counted in the presence of the club advisor. The results shall be announced as soon as they are known.
Section 4: Vacancies
Paragraph 1: Resignations
In order to resign, an officer must tender their written notice of resignation at least a week in advance of officially stepping down. An officer may step down only when another interim or elected official has been chosen as a successor.
Paragraph 2: Removal
If an officer is found to be in violation of the rules set forth by the TAMUG Game Club Constitution, the Aggie Honor Code, or the club by-laws he or she will be subject to a vote of confidence at the next official meeting.
Paragraph 3: Filling vacancies
Vacancies shall be filled within a reasonable amount of time. The remaining club officer shall work with the club advisor to select a suitable interim replacement until such time as elections can be held. In the event both offices are simultaneously vacated, the club advisor shall select suitable interim replacements until such time as elections can be held.

Article 5: Finance
Section 1: Oversight
The club president is charged with the oversight of organizational funds. A detailed statement of account shall be kept current and distributed at every official club meeting.
Section 2: Source of funding
The TAMUG Game Club shall accumulate funds through the use of fund raisers. These events shall be organized at the discretion of the club president. All funds raised by this organization must be deposited in the Student Organizations account within 24 hours.
Section 3: Maintenance of funds
All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for this organization by the Office of Student Life.
Section 4: Disbursement of funds
All requests for funding, whether through check or purchase order, must be approved by the authorized club officer and the organizations’ advisor. All requests must include a receipt or invoice.

Article 6: Rules of procedure
Club business shall be carried out in as a relaxed manner as is reasonable. If three or more club members present at an official meeting announce their feelings that business is not being carried out properly, the rest of that meeting shall be carried out in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order.
Section 1: Meetings
Official meetings will be held at the discretion of the TAMUG Game Club's President or Vice President. Official meetings shall serve as the time to discuss official business. Official meetings are to be held at least quarterly. Emergency meetings may be held if at least half of the club's official membership petition to do so or at the discretion of the club officers. The sole purpose of emergency meetings shall to be to hold a club officer to a vote of confidence.
Section 2: Attendance
Attendance to official club meetings is not mandatory for members. Officers shall attend at least every other official meeting.
Section 3: Quorum
To hold an official meeting, at least one club officer and three other club members must be present.
Section 4: Minutes
Meeting minutes shall be maintained by the club Vice President. One of the officers present at an official meeting shall take appropriate minutes.
Section 5: Voting
Elections excluded, votes shall only be cast by members present at official or emergency meetings. In cases of business, a majority vote is required for a motion to pass. In the case of a vote of confidence, a majority vote is required for an officer to retain their office.

Article 7: Amendments
This constitution may be amended if both a majority vote and unanimous club officer approval are achieved. TAMUG requires that all amendments be approved by the Director of Student Life.
